The Montreal Fluency Centre helps children with communication or learning difficulties by providing therapy in partnership with the child and the child’s family. Parent mentoring and home programs are essential components of therapy sessions.
We believe the best outcomes are achieved by:
Working directly with the individual child
Supporting and mentoring families and educators
Coordinating with partners in the community
Collaborating with professionals from health and social service disciplines
Assessment, treatment and consultation
We offer specialized assessment to children from preschool through young adulthood. Assessment allows a clinician to observe a child and to compare their performance to that of other children of their age or grade level. A therapy recommendation may be made after an assessment has been completed.
The MFC delivers evidence-based individual therapy tailored to each child’s needs. A qualified speech-language therapist works with parents to create communication goals for the child that are appropriate and supported by the latest research in the field.

“After six months at The Montreal Fluency Centre I have already seen a huge improvement in my son’s ability to speak more smoothly and confidently. We thank the MFC for supporting us financially through their bursary program, which made all this possible. The Centre truly is an important part of our community.”
“The lives of our three children, who have all benefited from the varied services of the MFC, have been changed beyond comparison…Over the last several years, our children have grown in confidence and independence thanks to the strategies and tools we received as a family.”
“After my three-year-old was diagnosed with language difficulties at the local hospital, I had no way of helping him. Long waiting lists or expensive private therapy were my only options. When everywhere else the doors were closed, the Montreal Fluency Centre and its bursary programme were there to give us a hand and opened a new universe for our son and our family…He now believes that he can achieve success too.”
“You worked with me and my son back in 2011/2012. He had a very strong stutter and really struggled. I just want to thank you again for all you did for us. I’ve recommended the Montreal Fluency Centre and the Lidcombe programme to several mums over the years. You touched us so much and really changed our lives. … is a thriving 12 year old with no speech issues whatsoever – really the ultimate smooth talker. Thank you. What you do is so important. “
“[My therapist] has helped me to speak more, write more, listen more and work harder at school…I feel more confident. I am much happier at school…I am able to make friends because the kids can now understand me when I speak.”
